Aging and life-course changes can result in social isolation and loneliness, now recognized as significant public health issues due to the negative effect on health and quality of life among older adults. Over a prolonged period, these are greater predictors of premature death than many other chronic health issues. This program will raise awareness of local resources and the important role that community programs, clubs, and leisure service organizations serve, while also clarifying the relationship between loneliness/social isolation and health. Learn to identify signs and symptoms of loneliness and social isolation, as well as ideas to keep your aging loved ones socially engaged and active.
