Caring for aging parents often means making complex legal and medical decisions while balancing work, family, and everyday responsibilities. This practical program is designed for busy adults who want clear, trustworthy guidance on the essential legal documents that help protect their parents’ wishes and reduce stress during difficult moments.
Led by an experienced estate planning attorney, the session breaks down key tools such as wills, powers of attorney, advance directives, DNR’s, and MOLST forms, as well as how the conservatorship process intersects with the decision-making process. You’ll learn how these documents and procedures work together to ensure your parent’s voice is heard, even when they cannot speak for themselves.
Participants will learn:
• Which documents are most important and how the various documents and procedures intersect
• How to identify and choose a trusted decision-maker who can advocate for medical and personal care needs
• The different levels of authority granted by each of the legal roles
• Tips on how to organize and share important documents so the right people have access when it matters most
Whether you are just starting to plan or already navigating long-term care decisions, you will leave with practical steps to feel more prepared and confident.
