Communicating with loved ones with dementia can be difficult.
This presentation will help you to understand communication changes related to Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias and develop strategies for connecting by “entering” the person’s perspective/view of current reality and connecting to the loved one’s personal histories, likes, and dislikes to communicate acceptance and support. Strategies for communication throughout the course of the disease, including the use of gestures, behaviors, and use of the senses will also be discussed.
