Dementia 101: Understanding the Basics

Join Dr. Melissa Black for an informative introduction to dementia and what families need to know. We will cover the different types of dementia, common signs and symptoms, how dementia is diagnosed, and steps to support brain health. Attendees will gain practical knowledge to better recognize changes and understand the condition. This program is ideal for caregivers, professionals, and anyone who wants a clearer understanding of dementia.

Who We Are

ACAP North Atlanta was founded in February 2023 with a mission: to support adults who are caring for aging parents. With one in six Americans serving as caregivers for someone over 50, we understand the unique challenges you face.

At ACAP North Atlanta, we offer a welcoming community where you can connect with others who truly understand the emotional stress, financial burdens, guilt, isolation, and overwhelm that often accompany caregiving.

Our free monthly programs are designed with your needs in mind, covering topics that are directly relevant to your journey. Each session is led by local experts who are passionate about helping you navigate life with an aging parent. ACAP North Atlanta is the resource you didn’t know you needed, providing guidance and support at every stage of your caregiving journey. We’re here for you, no matter where you are on this path.
