ACAP began in a community “next door” to some of the areas hit the hardest by Hurricane Helene. We are heartbroken by the devastation in western NC as well as elsewhere caused by a storm now recognized as one of the most destructive and most deadly on record. There is catastrophic damage and loss of life in six states across the Southeast, two of which are locations of ACAP chapters.
The nature of ACAP is to provide support. If you or someone you care about was affected by the storm, we pray everyone is ok or receiving needed help. For those not directly affected, we ask you to consider helping however you can. The needs are huge for people of all ages, and older adults and children are the most vulnerable.
Many individuals and organizations are providing critical support during this crisis. Possibly there are efforts in your community with which you may become involved. Possibly you would wish to donate to an organization that is providing assistance to devastated individuals and communities or help provide items for the Older Adult Supply Drive for Western NC identified below. Possibly contacting loved ones in affected areas could help bring much-needed comfort. And, if you are one who believes in prayer, possibly you would join us in holding closely all whose lives have been touched by this storm.
Please know that your care and help will be greatly appreciated, however you wish to be involved. On behalf of so many, thank you.
